The Africa Scout Foundation has officially launched its Junior Membership at the 17th Africa Scout Conference, with a pioneer team of 18 young donors. The young people drawn from across Africa and beyond have also been appointed young ambassadors of the Foundation to help promote it among their peers. This follows an earlier announcement of the introduction of the Junior Membership Category with 4 different levels; Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. The aim of this new category is to provide an opportunity for young Scouts who have always wanted to contribute to the development of Scouting to contribute and encourage their peers to do so as well.
Speaking while presenting a report on the Foundation’s progress to the conference, the Chairperson of the Foundation Board Prof. Maggie Kigozi noted that a lot of progress had been achieved especially with the support of the Foundation’s ambassadors in other regions and collaboration with other regional Scout foundations. “We have come so far. I want to sincerely thank both the members of the Foundation and the ambassadors for working hard to inject life into the spirit of the Foundation,” she said.
“I am also proud to announce that the Junior Membership Category has already received its founding members from the young people who were at the 8th Africa Scout Youth Forum whom we welcome and recognize today. The Africa Scout Foundation is an organization that fundraises on behalf of Scouting in order to support the activities of the movement on a regional level. The foundation has been for a while working aggressively to increase its presence in the region and beyond and to obtain a larger donor base tapping into every possible resource to support Scouting. The Foundation has been able to reach out to the European and Asia-Pacific regions and now has its ambassadors in those regions who help to carry on its message of supporting Scouting in Africa.
We appreciate all the new members for their support. We encourage the everyone to come forward and further support the Foundation in order to broaden its reach beyond the region and help support better Scouting for the young people in Africa. Join the foundation today or go for an upgrade if you are already a member.
